    I have a 20-month-old boy who loves to break things, so I have to take all my gaming consoles out fo the living room and into the study, where my PC is. So I thought it would be nice to get a LCD projection tvs with component input for my old consoles, as well as HDMI for potential new consoles. After lots of research I picked the T220HD LCD projection tv, because it also comes with digital tuner. I am very happy with the choice because it is exactly what I thought it would be. it’s very versatile and display everything well, and I am especially impressed with the digital tuner which picks up all the network OTA HD broadcast using a cheap indoor HDTV antenna, when my PCI tuner card (Avermedia A180) could pick up 2 or 3 using the same antenna in the same position. It’s not perfect, however.

    What’s to like:
    - Component input allows connecting older devices without HDMI.
    - 2 HDMI ports
    - Input source button cycles through only ports that are plugged in.
    - digital TV tuner is excellent.
    - Build in speaker/headphone jack/audio out port. Speakers are not great, but having them means you don’t need extra adaptors to capture the audio from HDMI/component devices.
    - Remote control. OSD navigation is so much easier and more intuitive with it. And this is really useful when turning the unit on/off, making this a true LCD Projection TV.
    - Has 16:9 aspect ratio option so that pictures don’t have to be stretched to full screen.
    - Unit is very light, only 13 lb.
    - Picture is bright and clear, no dead pixel for me.
    - Projection TV Screen is matte, not glossy.

    What’s really annoying to me:
    - Unit is light because base is mostly plastic, not very rigid.
    - touch sensitive power on/off button. Everything else is tactile and on the side of the monitor, except for power. turning the unit on/off using this button usually requires several presses. Might that be that big of an issue if the unit is not so light and stand so flimsy, I have to grab the whole bottom edge when I try to turn it on this way. Good thing there’s the remote.
    - My unit has quite a bit of backlight bleed at the center of top and bottom edge. Hard to see when using DVI input, but when viewing HDTV, with the black bars on top and bottom to get the correct 16:9 aspect ratio, the bleeding is obvious.

    What are the missing features which I don’t care much about:
    - the stand is basic, no height adjustment, no portrait mode
    - no PIP
    - can’t be mounted to the wall
    - Cannot customize the individual RGB color tone when in DVI mode. Can only select between one of the 3 presets (warm, normal, cool).

    Other nitpicks:
    - monitor frame has piano finish (glossy), including the inner side which reflects what’s on screen. Kind of annoying , and maybe makes backlight bleeding seem worse than it really is.
    - most of the connection ports are on the back of the unit facing back. While this makes the ports easier to see than a lot of other models that has the ports on the bottom facing down, it also makes insertion of wires, especially the component video ones, harder becasue you are pushing/applying force perpendicular to the LCD panel. You don’t want to put your other hand on the LCD screen, but if you don’t, then you really can’t get a good push.

    I treated myself to this little beauty because I was getting tired of my laptop’s 14″ screen (which is my main home PC), and have been really happy with it. Setup out of the box was very easy, assembly was a snap, calibration took about 10-15 minutes (used the free tools at lagom dot nl) and the result is gorgeous.

    And that’s with me running off of a lousy VGA connection to a 4 year old Centrino desktop with a humble 32MB video card, I would expect even more stunning image quality using one of today’s top of the line machines with an HDMI connection!

    Can’t say much about the sound quality since I’m using external speakers, but anybody buying a monitor intending to use only the onboard speakers for anything more than systems sound alerts, is a flaming idiot.

    And I haven’t had a chance to watch TV on it since I haven’t gotten an HDTV antenna yet, but that’s on my to-do list. Will report back if there are any problems.

    With a 480p standard DVD playing through my laptop, the results are gorgeous however. For a mere two hundred eighty from buy dot com, I’m very pleased. I thought I wouldn’t like the rose-colored exterior, but have to admit it IS quite attractive, classy-looking. Again and again, I am very impressed by today’s Korean electronics.

    I am a recent college graduate starting work this fall. I wanted a good quality LCD Projection tv that would last me for the next decade or so, without breaking my little piggy bank.

    *Swivel on TV has a very generous range, which is great for me since I have it in my bedroom and can watch TV from my bed, desk chair, or futon by simply rotating the TV.

    *Picture Quality: I cannot ask for more from the picture quality. In particular, the color and contrast are amazing and stunning.

    *Tweaking ability: For those of you who really want to have the most accurate picture quality, this Samsung model lets you tweak everything you need to professional calibrate it. You can google for calibration settings for this model from professionals and then set your TV to these settings and know you have a calibrated TV. You can also use any THX DVD movie you have and goto extra features for the THX calibration on video and sound (e.g. Monsters Inc DVD, Cars DVD, Pirate of Carribean DVD).

    *Channel Surfing speed: Some LCD Projection tvs take forever to change the channel, not with this hdtv projection tv. it is swift. not as fast on my SONY lcd, but fast enough such that you can switch channels without being frustrated at all.

    *Remote: Samsung has the best remote i have ever seen on a projection tv screen. The keys are large and spaced out and intuitive. Also, there is a button on the top that you can press that turns on the light for the keys, which is great! Backlit keys for night time movie watching is amazing!

    *WiseLink: You can plug into its USB port a camera/jump drive, etc. and it will play a slide show of your pictures and music. Pictures look stunning! A little slow sometimes to read large picture files off plugged in camera, but def bearable.

    *Standard Definition channels look like crap on this HDTV Projection TV. I have a 6 year old Sony rear projection TV downstairs that processed standard def so much better than this HDTV Projection TV. This Projection TV Screen makes standard def. shows look like cell phone clips (quality wise). This would be my biggest gripe on this TV: standard def. sucks so badly.

    * PIP does not support 2 TV channels (i dont know anybody who would use PIP the way it’s setup on this TV; you can only do PIP with another source like PC input with TV. awkward).

    * Speakers are decent but don’t get nearly loud enough for parties or anything beyond personal movie watching. Def. invest in a soundbar or some simple home theater system if you take sound seriously.

    * Turning the TV on is a little slower than I would like. It needs about 3-5 seconds to fully turn on, and sometimes I’m not sure if i’ve activated it or not.

    * Remote must be pointed pretty darn straight at the IR port in order for it to process the signal. Not too annoying but wish they had a more liberal IR range.

    * USB WiseLink works great for pictures but this model does not support Movies thru its USB port! Need to buy their step-up model to get the movie support on wiselink. I tried to do a firmware update, but there isn’t a hack for updating the wiselink to the movie version. May need to buy a WD TV or something to get that movie experience.

    Let me say that this projection TVs is one of the best in the market for the price point. The pros are too many to list and so far has been a great choice as far as features and performance. I’m an early adapter for projection tv screen in 03 going from a Zenith C32V37 RP CRT (4:3); which unfortunately is getting replaced due to a humming power supply. The B750 can match the black levels of the RP CRT and has no clouding or flashlighting that I was seeing on the A750/A850 sets, which my wife and I almost decided to get. With Amazon’s pricepoints coming very close to the discounted price of the previous generation Samsung sets it was a no brainer.

    Now onto the Cons, I would have given this B750 5 stars if not for the crappy Samsung Quality Control. I received my TV out-of-the-box with a remote that had 5 dead/non-working buttons= mute, up arrow, play, red options button and “1″. Also, after 2 days of setting up the TV and getting all our inputs connected using almost all of them (analog & digital); yes even both USB ports, the HDMI inputs 1-3 stopped working properly. Now, those inputs will only take the signal from the HDMI 4. EG: If I select HDMI 1-3 and have a source such as Bluray running on the HDMI 4 (side-port) it will display that source signal. Talk about disappointing QC. After a few calls to Amazon and Samsung; I will be getting a new remote and have Samsung’s local service technician out to fix the HDMI input problem. I can’t believe these QC issues out-of-the-box are occuring for such as middle-tier to higher end line of prodcut; very poor testing on Samsung’s part.

    Overall, I am very satisfied with the performance of the B750 but very disappointed with their QC process which can be greatly improved. In my 20-30+ years of owning electronic equipment I have never encountered these types of QC problems out-of-the box with any products.
