An important note for  32 lcd vizio projection TV screen,

We just got this  32 lcd vizio yesterday from a big-box store, so I cannot comment about its reliability yet. The picture is average, and the features are average. I would like to quickly be able to control the “aspect” feature, but you have to navigate through the menus to do that. I’d also like to see a “guide” for navigating the digital channels, as my other hdtv projection tv has this built-in.

The thing that I am very pleased with is the audio output of the built-in speakers. Another reviewer mentioned the lack of audio outputs, which I agree should be included on all projection TVs. But for someone like me who doesn’t care about having a 5.1 system.

The built in speakers are the BEST I’ve heard in any hdtv projection tv. The  32 lcd vizio quality is average (and there’s an optional “surround” filter, if you like to use that) but the volume is outstanding. You can really turn it up and the sound is not distorted at all.

So far, it’s a great stand-alone average-use consumer TV. On that note, many of the people that buy this projection tv screen will probably still be using Composite video (the yellow video cable, red and white audio cables).

This projection tv screen only has 1 composite-input, but that’s true with all other hdtv projection tv that I’ve seen. You may have to find alternate ways to hook up several older devices (video game consoles, VCR, or any device that doesn’t have Component or HDMI connections) at the same time.

	Sony BRAVIA XBR Series KDL-52XBR9 52-Inch 1080p 240 Hz LCD HDTV

• I upgraded from a 42″ projection TV. WOW what a difference. I was worried it would be too big. however after having the TV for a few months now I can say it’s a perfect size. Delivery was simple and easy. They called a few days out and gave me a few options of delivery days/times.
• They took the Sony XBR LCD TV out of the box and set it up on the stand for me. Normally they would test it, but since it was cold out i signed a waiver that they did not test the TV and that if I had any issues once the TV warmed up they would come back and return the TV. Luckily there were no issues at all.
• The internet widgets are really useful. I like that I can stream netflix to my  LCD projection TV and do not have to use my xbox to do this. The interface is simple and easy for netflix/ streaming video. I have a cable box , but was interested in the built in tuner/ TV guide function.
• It took about 15 minutes or so to scan all my channels. I picked a good amount of HD channels(QAM). The tv guide interface is slick and makes navigating the channels like having a cable box. Very cool feature. Picture quality via built in tuner is better than my Scientific Atlantic cable box over hdmi .
• I do not use built in sound but tried it out for a bit. The built in sound sounds good for what it is, but if you are going to spend this kind of money on an HDTV you might as well pickup a surround sound setup. It was simple to shut off the built in speakers and only use the digital from LCD Projection TV to send to my receiver.

The picture quality on this sony XBR LCD TV is amazing. Bluray looks amazing.

• THe opening scene in the dark knight filmed in IMAX at full 16:9 is jaw dropping! The depth and clarity/color is stunning. Motion blur is reduced vs my previous 42″ projection tv.
• There are a few clear frame/stabilization modes. Standard is the best option in my opinion. If you have it set to high it changes the intent of what a director wants you to watch the movie. For sports / reality shows I can stand the high mode, but for movies I had to switch it off.
• There are different scene presets which are great! You can tweak the settings for each type of viewing mode. IE sports, gaming, movies, pc connection, etc etc.
• This is very useful. My sony XBR LCD TV is in a bright room (reason i got this over the sammy with a glossy screen) and during the day it’s nice to have the presets for different lighting conditions/viewing content etc etc.
• I use the sports mode for my daytime viewing (back light / color all the way up) During the evening for TV content I use the general setting and tweaked the back light/color to be better for low light viewing.
• For movie watching (all lights off) I have the “theater” mode tweaked / tuned via THX optimizer (Terminator 2 bluray). TV came really close to THX spec only a few settings needed to be tweaked.

Impressive Home theater system with amazing sound quality

	Sony BDVE500W 5.1-Channel High-Definition Blu-ray Disc Player/DVD Disc Home theater System (Black) by Sony

The system was installed on Wednesday without any problem. Everything comes efficiently packed in the box, very easy to follow instructions, elegant and compact, the tower speakers are superb and nice, without mentioning the subwoofer.

The center speaker is surprisingly small yet effective on delivering faultless sound.

The surround speakers are suitable (although I need to put mines on a stand),

The Blu Ray Player fitted perfectly inside my entertainment table, the color coded plugs where a charm to patch up and in less than 30 minutes I was calibrating the sound system with the supplied calibration microphone.

The System allows you to calibrating each speaker output through the elegant XMB Operating System. The S-Air Wireless feature was easy to setup.

Image quality? flawless, I have no words to describe the quantum leap between DVD to Blu Ray. Even the up scaling of my old dvds is remarkable. Excellent Investment.
Child lock is function is awesome to protect the unit from the kids.

Amazing quality of Blu-Ray movies or HD Gaming.

• When viewing a projection tv screen DVD, you may often be surprised to se that the less expensive EDTV plasma display actually looks sharper than the more expensive HDTV plasma display!
• That’s because the image resolution of a projection tv screen DVD (nominally 704×480) is very close to the actual pixel count (852×480) in an plasma display .
• I would venture to say that if you watched both of these plasma display with the same content on them from a reasonable viewing distance – say, eight feet to ten feet – you might think the extra for the same-size HDTV version isn’t really worth it.
• And you’d be in good company, as 42-inch EDTV plasma display were big sellers during the 2004 holiday season, while 42-inch HDTV plasma display were not.
• The bottom line? Think about where you’ll put your projection tv screen, how far you’ll be sitting from it, and what you’ll be watching on it most of the time.
• If you’ll be sitting eight feet or more from a 37-inch or 42-inch plasma display , you’ll probably be quite happy with an EDTV version.
• Even though the picture is not HDTV, you’ll find that HDTV programs still look spectacular and noticeably more detailed than standard programming. Of course, if you plan on sitting real close to the TV or are buying a larger screen size, then HDTV is the way to go.
• Now to address a few concerns about projection tv screen: First of all, today’s plasma display don’t have the same problems with premature image aging (burn-in, burn-out) that plagued older plasma monitors and TVs.
• That’s because the mix of gases used in the panels have been changed to improve longevity. You’ll hear the figure ‘60,000 hours’ thrown around; be conservative and figure half that, which is 30,000 hours.
• 30,000 hours is the equivalent of watching eight hours a day of television, seven days a week for 10 years. I don’t watch that much television, but perhaps you do.
• Assuming you operate your plasma display in the ‘Normal’ or ‘Cinema’ picture modes and don’t play video games on it too often, you should be in fine shape for quite some time.

How to Enjoy with the Plasma Display?

Although plasma display can generate extremely bright images, they have an automatic brightness governing system to keep them from doing so with high luminance program material so as to avoid burn-in and premature phosphor aging.

• LCD projection TV have no such braking system and will usually make a much brighter image on the showroom floor and in your home.

• Because plasma display employ phosphors for imaging, they are susceptible to glare from indoor and outdoor light.

• LCD projection TV don’t have this problem; they create images by shuttering light through tiny color filters and generally handle annoying reflections from open windows or nearby lights with no difficulty.

• What projection tv screen don’t have is deep, rich black levels. On average, the level of ‘black’ measured on the best LCD projection TV is about 10 times as high as that measured on the best plasma display .

• Also, colors on LCD projection TV don’t appear to be as rich (or even accurate) as a plasma display . As a result, you will probably find that projection tv screen seem to look better under normal room lighting, but plasma display excel when the lights are turned down.

• Projection tv screen are expected to last between 50,000 to 60,000 hours, and that’s usually the time it takes for the backlight to burn out. However, you should read the fine print in your owner’s manual:
• Those life expectancy numbers are not for full brightness, but only 50% or even 25% of full panel brightness. (Tests have been done to confirm this.)
• The upside is that projection tv screen are available in so many sizes that you can put them just about anywhere you’d wish in your house. I’ve used 15-inch and 17-inch sizes as HDTV displays in my downstairs bathroom each year during the Super Bowl!
• LCD projection TV as a general rule, use less power than plasma (25% on average) and also weigh less in equivalent screen sizes (about 20% on average).
• And they are slightly thinner, too, although when you are talking about TVs that measure only 3″ to 5″ in thickness, who really wants to split hairs?
• Both plasma display and LCD projection TV can be a welcome addition to your home. It’s up to you to read the myriad of reviews available in print and on the Web so that you can make the right choice.
• And don’t obsess over rapidly falling prices. If you are ready to buy and have picked out the right type and size of TV for you, enjoy it with the knowledge that you did your homework and made an informed buying decision!

• I have had this LED Projection TV for a week now and am very, very pleased with the set. I have the 7100 series from Best Buy.
• This is a special model only sold through Best Buy. It is the same as the 7000 except for some cute little add ons. One being the ability to scroll through a series of museum paintings.
• This allows you to use the set as a picture viewer/screen saver and when used with your audio system makes a nice back drop for a party or something of that sort. You can not add pictures.
• It also allows you to go to the internet and use Yahoo widgets and about five other widgets.
• There are also a couple of games built in. Will most people use these features? Probably not!
• This is the same thing that happened to the Sony 240 hz set. In January 2009 it was $3,900 and is down to $2,800.
• If you want to wait, it will drop more but that is technology.

  My wife usually does not say anything about the LED Projection TVs we have except if she can not get the remote to turn everything on. She and my son were watching James Bond - Quantum of Solace on bluray. She told me that it was like sitting in the director’s chair on the set.

• The quality of the blu-ray screen is so clear that it takes on a 3D appearance. The colors are true, the whites are white and the blacks are black.
• There is no bleeding or blurring of motion. The dark scenes are just as life like as the light scenes.
• If I spend this much on a TV, then I will also have a good sound system so the built-in speakers are not a problem. The LED Projection TV remotes are not that useful.
• The small round remote is useless. Again, I have the set connected to an amp, a cable box, a blu-ray player and an old VHS player. I use a programmable remote so I do not use the Samsung remote.
• The thinness of the set makes the set shrink from the viewer. I mean my old 56′ cabinet was two feet deep. This set is 1 and 1/4 inches deep. It hugs the wall so well that it does not dominate the room even though it is 55″.
• The most important part is that there is little to no heat generated by this LED Projection TV.
• It uses 40% less power than an LCD of the same size. This should help the set last longer and save power on AC and set top use as well.

  When using this set to compare pictures make sure that you look at about a dozen different high definition stations. The high definition stations are not all the same! HDNet1, HDNet2, The Science Channel, and ABC in my area are tremendous with the quality in the order shown above.

• The worst are CBS, PBS, and TBS. There is a big difference in video and audio quality of these stations. Again, look at several stations your area may be totally different.
• The picture on the Samsung LED is like looking through a really, really clean window. In other words - awesome!

LCD Projection TV: Important to know if you are looking to get a new TV.

If you are looking to get a new TV, and want a ‘flatscreen’ but simply don’t have the big bucks to spend, and don’t have any interest in the simply amazing quality of Blu-Ray movies or HD Gaming, you will be quite satisfied with a HD TV.  Moving from an old CRT TV (the big bulky TV’s we’re all used to having), and perhaps an analogue reception (ghosting pictures, snowy screen) you will be blown away by the quality.

Thankfully the retailers and manufacturers have got their act together on this one so it is hard to get sold a dud when it comes to HD.  Here’s what to look for.

There are TWO types of HD.  Anything advertised as HD will most likely be 720p.  This, by the book, is High Definition.  The problem is, it’s not FULL High Definition.  FULL HD is 1080i/p

However, if you want a TV that is going to offer the best in quality, and really last you through lots of new technologies over the coming years, you should ensure you get a FULL HD set.

Essentially, HD has just 720 lines of pixels making up the picture.  While FULL HD has 1080, so the FULL HD TV has the ability to show more detail in your picture!
