    Unbeatable.panasonic 42 plasma 1080p,

Panasonic, the leader in high definition and Plasma TV,This LCD Projection TV has the best picture of any hdtv 1080p I have ever seen. I build homes for multi-millionaires and I have seen some incredible TV’s, theater rooms, with $50K audio systems wired in; and I have never seen a TV with a better picture. I bought this TV within a week of Consumer Reports rating it as the best picture they had ever tested, and I was still surprised at how breathtaking the picture was.
You cannot overrate this panasonic 42 HDTV and its capabilities to deliver a picture like none you’ve seen before. I do implore you, however, to invest in a blu-ray DVD player and a high quality HDMI cable for the full effect. The picture, when playing a blu-ray DVD on the new Panasonic blu-ray DVD player, along with a high quality HDMI cable (Panasonic makes maybe the best available for only $25) is unbelievable. The definition is so amazing that your opinions of beautiful big screen actresses may come back down to earth after seeing the the blemishes in their complexion that you never would have seen on a regular TV. This TV is the pinnacle. There is no TV better.

    Excellent HDTV Television:

For myself, it came down to a few important items. First, 42 plasma tv was not going to be adequate given the problems with watching highspeed programs like sports or action movies. Secondly, I needed a screen that was capable of producing an excellent picture both in HD and on non-HD. Finaly I wanted to buy from a corporation that had an outstanding reputation and produced excellent products. With that said, this plasma television has been all of this and more. I am extremely impressed by this product. The picture is outstanding on non-HD, and it is exceptional on HD. I have a PS3 and the 1080p picture is surreal. The clarity of the picture and the sound is excellent and I would recommend this product to anyone who is looking for an new flat-pannel television. Being the only 42in 1080p plasma on the market singles this product out, but after owning the item and observing it’s capabilities, it definetely lives up to it’s hype.

5.0 out of 5 stars Samsung 20 lcd tv,Received this monitor flat panel last week and so far couldn’t be happier.
I’m using this as a HDTV television only hooked up by HDMI to my cable box.

Great hi def picture and pretty good sound. SD pictures are not as good but plenty watchable. I have it sitting on my desk next to my Dell 2407 (1920 by 1200) computer monitor and from about 3 feet, the TOC is the perfect size and the HD picture looks great.

As someone reviewing the 22 in. TOC said, it is a 16:10 screen so you get about .6 in. of black screen on the top and bottom when viewing a 16:9 hdmi input, but it doesn’t bother me. Someone also said that not filling the screen will cause burn-in.
I have hundreds of hours playing games on my 24 in. 1080p LCD with an un-filled screen and have not had a problem, so I’m not worried.

Some shows on my cable fill the screen so it’s not as if that part of the screen is always black.  Oh yeah, 3 year warranty for Samsung T200HD instead of 1 yr for TVs
As usual, fast, free shipping (super saver- 7 days for me) and good service from Amazon.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing picture, but surprised by some missing features,

I want to say first off that I also experienced the bug where the TV unexpectedly turns itself off, but after I installed the firmware upgrade that Samsung LN46A650 posted on 4/5 the problem has gone away.

I agree with the other reviewers that the picture is AMAZING. I am also happy to see that Samsung has added a 4th HDMI port. I was initially concerned that the “Touch Of Color” might clash with my decor, but it is very subtle especially if you mount the LCD Projection TV inside a cabinet. The “Infolink” feature is cute and easy to set up, but I don’t see it as being extremely useful.

Now for some caveats. I purchased this HDTV television right after setting up an LNT4661F for my inlaws, and I was quite surprised to realize that the A650 is missing several features from the 4661F, despite the A650 costing $650 more. For starters, the A650 does not have rear composite video or S-video ports (only one of each on the side). This is probably not a big deal for most people, but if you are using a VCR, surveillance cam, etc. you will have a cables plugged into the side of the 1080p LCD HDTV. More of a concern to me was that the A650 has only 1 antenna input versus 2 on the 4661F. That means with the Samsung LN46A650 you can’t plug in both an antenna and a cable input. I guess Samsung figures everyone is using a set top box so they cut corners there.

By far my biggest complaint is with the Remote control. Again unlike the 4661F, the A650 does NOT have a universal remote! It’s essentially a TV-only remote, although it CAN control Samsung “Anynet+” components connected via HDMI. This seems like a big step backwards and bothers me more than the other features that were removed. Also the remote is not described on the Samsung website so I had no way of knowing that the remote had been “de-improved”. I agree with other reviewers that the navigation wheel is horrible … it spins freely which makes it practically useless … you spin the dial to make your selection, then as you move your finger to press the enter button inside the scroll wheel, the wheel moves and you select the wrong value. You have to wonder “what were they thinking?”. I’ve seen Happy Meal toys with better tactile feedback!

Despite my criticisms and annoyance that some features have been removed, I still rated this TV as 5 stars because in my book, picture quality is by far the biggest consideration and it looks great to me. Also the aesthetics are very nice and the new features such as 4th HDMI and Infolink make up for the removed features and poor remote control.

    Customer Television Projection Reviews

This is the 2nd Samsung 1080p DLP that I have owned. The first being a Samsung 56″ 5650, it still worked great when upgrading to this Samsung HL67A750, I just really wanted the new features such as the LED projection tv and admittedly the extra size (insert joke here). I did the research into the plasma and LCD projection tv and just couldn’t rationalize why I would spend comparable money for a 42″ TV. Along with this price difference, the plasmas and LCDs, in my opinion, just don’t handle the non-HD programming nearly as well as 1080p DLP units, too pixilated. As for the HD picture, it’s amazing… I would gladly put it up against a plasma or LCD.

If you are thinking that this hdtv television might be too big for your room, it’s likely not! The viewing distance that I typically have on this Samsung HL67A750 is around 7-8′ away and it’s perfect. At this distance it is comparable to the ratio you are experiencing in a good seat at the theater. You can adjust the display to the brightness level of your preference, but just in general I have found the DLP to be a softer more eye friendly image than the LCD or Plasma and comparable to what you experience in a modern theater.

For the gamers, this LCD Projection TV set is the bomb! If you have found yourself changing the brightness level just to be able to see the details in darker games like Gears of War and then switching to watching TV to have a whitewash… there is a quick select button on the remote control that goes to `Game’ mode that trasitions the picture to a mode that allows you see stuff the way that the games designers intended them to be seen.

I will leave you with this thought… You are just sitting down in your favorite chair, the unbelievable smell of the extra buttered popcorn that your friends and family are passing around dominates the air … then all of a sudden the intro scene of Star Wars Episode 4 starts rolling across this 67″ badboy while the theme song belts out of a well bassed sound system……. Yeah, it’s worth it!

5.0 out of 5 starsThe Sony TV 42WE610 Plasma with Reliability,

you want to hang your LCD Projection TV on the wall I understand the attraction of Plasma. If not (I believe the majority of people out there do not hang their TV on the wall yet)this is a real alternative with significant advantages. If it breaks buy a bulb, not a whole TV as you would with Plasma. Burn in is very unlikely with this technology, whereas Plasma is very prone to it. Picture quality is better in my opinion in normal conditions, additio

5.0 out of 5 stars Big Screen Delight,

Shazaaam! We went from a 15 year old, 28-inch Hitachi CRT to this puppy and couldn’t be happier. Granted, the cheap thrill is less than a week old (Boxing Day special) but the screen speaks for itself. Why didn’t we jump at the better rated Samsung or Sony hdtv television 46 inchers? Price! I honestly can’t see that big of a difference — if any — in picture quality over the others and they normally cost hundreds more. To calibrate your LC sharp 46D65U, start with the online CNET review of the LC52D65U and use the recommended settings given in the blog link. Then fine tune the levels as you get better acquainted with the big screen. The banding issue of the older models? Gone. Or at least I haven’t seen any bands so far and neither have recent reviewers. I find the remote control very easy to use once you know where everything is and can’t believe the reviewers who whine about the remote’s size etc. If you don’t like the color in a particular show or movie, it’s extremely easy to pull the menu down on the screen and quickly adjust things to improve the picture quality.

We set this LCD Projection TV black beauty up in less than an hour (getting it safely out of the box and onto the stand took most of that time) and have been watching our old DVDs and VHS tapes as a test before purchasing a newfangled Blu-ray player. Sure the old stuff isn’t as sharp as a 1080p hi-def source but it was still more than acceptable to our old eyes — surprisingly so. In fact, I’ve decided to go with the Toshiba DVR7 DVD/VCR combo player with the upconvert feature so I don’t have to abandon my huge pile of old VHS tapes and DVDs. If the DVDs upconvert to a better quality image that’s even half close to hi-def we’ll be more than happy. The VHS tapes will have to play as they are since they can’t be upconverted. Hopefully, Blu-ray players will be significantly improved in the coming year or two and tempt us out of our old ways. [UPDATE: See my review of the Sharp BDHP21U blu-ray player...we went that route instead and are happy we did.]

Bottom line: With this LCD Projection TV you get a nice big screen and full HD capability. If you’re traditionalists like us, you may be delighted to find that the LC46D65U also brings new life to old technology!

UPDATE UPDATE (early February): New firmware available online for the companion BDHP21U Sharp blu-ray player which will fix any current play issues with the latest blu-ray DVDs. What I LOVE about the Aquos Advantage is that they phoned me and personally alerted me to that new update after I lodged a complaint about not being able to view my WALL-E blu-ray several weeks ago. Tip to Sharp: Keep those firmware updates rolling in on a weekly basis, not every few months!!

Also note that if you are wavering between the Sharp LC46D65U and the similar 85U (the more expensive 120hz model), CNET noticed no discernible real life difference in blurring between the two. Verdict? Save your money and go with the 65U. I watched the Superbowl with it and saw no blur. My family is loving it!

5.0 out of 5 stars LC Sharp 37 Inch

OK I’ve been holding out longer than most to acquire my first flat screen HDTV television. I’m glad I waited until now as prices seem to keep dropping like a rock and quality improving far beyond the early models I’ve seen. After doing a lot of online research and seeing recent models I finally decided to take the plunge and picked up the newly released Sharp LC-37D64U. As I unwrapped the set from its packaging I realized that it was major leap forward aesthetically. Most noticeable is the thin black frame surrounding the screen that maximizes the amount of screen space and the slender width and depth dimensions making it perfect for wall hanging. I wasn’t disappointed when I finally fired up the set for the first time and tuned into the HDTV National Geographic Channel. The images were just a stunning thing of beauty. I’m still putting the set through its initial paces but can’t wait to get my new Blu-Ray player hooked up. I’ve also seen complaints on other forums about the sound quality with some of the Sharp LCD’s Projection TV but found this one to be more than adequate although not audiophile quality for those home theater enthusiasts out there. I would highly recommend this product to someone wanting a top notch but smaller footprint LCD Projection TV.

3/15/08 Update - Well I finally hooked up my Sharp BPD-HP20U Blu-Ray player via an HDMI cable and much to my dismay I cannot seem to get the output set to 1080p. Right now all discs playback in 1080i. When I attempt to set the player to 1080p I get the error message “the attached equipment does not correspond to this format”. I’ve got a call in to Sharp customer service to see if they can clarify the setup procedure for me. I’d be curious to know if other users have had the same issue or not. Funny thing is that when I hooked up the Blu-Ray player to my 19″ Magnavox it outputs in 1080p just fine.

3/21/08 - Well still no response from Sharp with regards to my 1080p issue. Also, I have noticed at least 3 “stuck” pixels (not too bad with over 2 miliion) one of which is bright green and a bit irritating but only up to a viewing distance of about 3 ft. I don’t know how common these are since this is my first large LCD but I only hope that more do not start to appear. I’m taking my rating down to a 4-stars. I’d still recommend this LC sharp set but can longer say it’s perfect. Is anybody else buying these?

5.0 out of 5 stars A great picture, with only minor drawbacks,

I have been putting this LCD Projection tv through its paces since I got it a few weeks ago, and it is by far the best samsung television I have ever owned, and very difficult to beat. The image quality is really good, with bright, vivid colors and wonderful detail, especially for 1080i/p content, but even lower-resolution 720p content, which is what’s more commonly-available on OTA HD broadcast, looks phenomenal. I also have an Apple TV hooked up to it, and even though most of my content is encoded at either 360p, 480p, or 720p, it still looks quite good.

It does take some time to get the image tuned to perfection, and the default settings are way too bright with too much color saturation boost, and the DNIe processing system actually seems to make some motion effects worse. However, it’s very easy to change the settings and see immediately what effect they have.

Like all LCD Projection Tv it does have some slight black point problems; these aren’t noticeable for fullscreen 16:9 content, but for older 4:3 content it’s pretty obvious that the black isn’t pure black. However, this is again tunable.

The only thing I really notice which is pretty annoying is that it doesn’t do a very good job of upscaling 480i content, such as the output from most video game systems, and for DVDs to look good you really need an upconverting player since even with a progressive-scan player there is a lot of visible pixelation when the 480p content is scaled up. It’s really more a sad reflection on how the previous “next-generation” video looks downright primitive by today’s standards.

The other noticeable issue is that unlike many televisions with digital tuners, it doesn’t have an on-screen program guide. My previous hdtv television (also a Samsung) had an on-screen program guide, but it was rather cumbersome to use and took several minutes of scanning every channel to see what was on, and most local channels are pretty inconsistent about providing the EPG information anyway, so it’s not really that big of a deal. You can still see the detailed information for the program that’s currently showing, so it makes use of EPG, just not as much as it could.

This television’s tuner is also quite phenomenal. My previous hdtv television required a very carefully-positioned powered antenna which was very sensitive to every little nearby fluctuation, while with this Samsung 40 LCD HDTV I only have a piece of wire jammed into the antenna port and I get perfect reception of every local digital station.

Another nice improvement over Samsung’s older HDTVs is that it has a wide variety of zoom modes which allow you to counteract some of the stupider things that TV stations do (for example, pillboxing a letterboxed 16:9 show, which is very common for widescreen non-HD programming). Also, analog TV stations and source inputs get their audio signals upconverted to digital, so you only need to run a single optical audio connection to your stereo (while previous Samsungs required running both analog and digital cables and switching between the two inputs based on source material).

As a PC monitor this is also quite nice. I have a Mac mini hooked up via SVGA cable, and even with an analog signal it looks perfectly sharp and crystal-clear, and of course you can hook it up via HDMI (with a DVI to HDMI adaptor) as well. The only gripe there is that the supported resolutions are a bit quaint - at least on analog SVGA the only 16:9 resolution it supports is 1920×1080, which can be difficult for some older systems to handle. However, on HDMI it should support all the standard HD resolutions.

This Samsung 40 LCD HDTV may be more expensive than others in its size class, but it also far outshines every other TV I have seen, aside from the newer LN-T4065, which is nearly identical aside from providing a higher dynamic contrast ratio. If you want to only buy one TV which will last for a long time, it would be hard to go wrong with this one.
