    Great Television Projection5
I bought this Television Projection about a month ago and love it. I have been watching the NBA Playoffs on it and it looks great even in 1080i (comcast doesn’t project in higher HD). I have my Xbox hooked up with an HDMI cable and it gives me full 1080P quality. It looks fantastic even in an extremely bright room. I reccommend this product especially for the price. Buying a 57in 1080P HDTV for just over $1K is a steal.

    Very solid item/Best bargin HDTV5

I bought the Television Projection about 7 months ago as I was moving into a dorm for college and I needed a new big screen tv. While it is way bigger than I need for a dorm room I figued why not spend the extra money for a bigger TV then spend 150-300 on a little 20inch when I’d be buying a larger Television Projection later when I live in an apartment. At the time this was around $875 and was the best deal out there.

I was wary at first as there are many complants with these kind of systems. However, I have never had a problem with unit. I think it has been more than I expected. While it is a 720 and not 1080 I don’t think there is much difference. While I am in a dorm I don’t have a normal array of HD channels, but I do get your basic CBS/NBC channels in HD and they look completely crystal clear. I can’t make a noticable difference from the 720 to 1080. The only time you can really tell the difference is if your in a store and a 720 is next to a 1080. Since it is a rear projection it is lamp lit and other complained of the lamp light flowing out from the vents in the back. I don’t really notice this, even in with all the lights off. If you have it directing against a wall then you can see it, but it’s not enough to be bothersome and if you wish can be easily blocked. Only con is the warm up and warm down as it is a bulb light, but it only takes a few seconds. I wouldn’t turn it off and on rapidly or leave it on constantly as the bulb will burn out faster.

An excellent Television Projection at a great price5
We’ve been really trying to buy a large-screen TV for 3-4-years but anything that had a good picture was hideously expensive and anything that was affordable had a serious drawback. We finally got one, and it’s the Mitsubishi WD65734, a DLP, thin-frame, 65-inch, 1080p TV. We looked at TV pictures over and over and over again in stores, read user reviews, and this one looked great but some people complained of the projection bulb burning out frequently (they are supposed to last about 5,000-hours) and a noisy fan. We’ve only had ours a short time so can’t comment on bulb life yet, but most user ratings did not report a problem and hey, that’s what the service contract is for. The fan is not noisy, one can hear it with the set off during cool-down but otherwise not an issue. The picture is lush, detailed, crisp, and bright. No DLP “rainbow”. Off-angle viewing, while not as good as a plasma, is good side-to-side, and more limited but still good up-and-down. The user manual is amazingly clear and easy to use. We view broadcast TV using an attic antenna, analog stations are grainy but digital ones are great. We also have a Blu-Ray DVD player and Blu-Ray disks let this Television Projection show its stuff, actually better than a real movie theater.

Love the Television Projection but buy the extended warranty4
Well we love this Television Projection bought in 04 but have gone thru 4 bulbs. 2 bulbs the repairman confessed the last was an off brand ‘generic’ bulb and didn’t hold up so insist on the Toshibas. THANK THE LORD we bought the extended 4 year warranty giving us 5 years and they said after the 3rd replacement they would now replace the entire TV. Our friends have the same Television Projection bought before we bought ours and have only had to replace one bulb and their Television Projection is on 9am to midnight daily. Go figure. I will check this “low” setting aka read the manual. We did buy some $300+ surge protector thing which they said would be murder on the bulbs if we didn’t. So happy with Best Buys’ warranty and service anyways, they really are excellent with customer service. BUY THE EXTENDED WARRANTY.

  • CRT or tube television suited the needs of viewers for several decades. Plasma and LCD came along in more recent years competing for the affections of television buyers. These newer entrants on the market offer a slim design and the ability to enjoy a theater like experience with enormous screens that don’t require an entire room for set up.

For the millions of consumers still holding out on purchasing a new plasma or LCD television despite their falling prices over the past couple of years, there will of course be other technologies evolve in the not so distant future to further complicate the decision when selecting a new set. Becoming acquainted with at least the names of a few of the technologies on the horizon may help prepare buyers for what is sure to follow in a crowded marketplace.

    OLED

OLED is the acronym for organic light-emitting diode. The technology was originally developed years ago by Eastman Kodak and is used for both light sources and television. Sony is one of several companies hoping to bring this technology to market. Images are produced via the electro-phosphorescent properties of certain organic materials. No back light is required in an OLED television. In addition to television, OLED may be used on small screens such as on cell phones, MP3 players, and digital cameras.

An OLED television (active matrix) will use less power than the average LCD television. They offer a superior range of color and brightness as well as a wider viewing angle. These televisions are lighter weight, thinner, and yet more durable. The most significant drawback to an OLED television in this early phase is their lifetime. The longevity of some of the LEDs (the blue component) is only 3,000 to 5,000 hours at this time. Once manufacturing technology advances are made, it is anticipated that OLED televisions will have a much more competitive lifespan.

    SED

SED is a surface conduction electron-emitter display, a technology reportedly being pursued primarily by Toshiba and Canon. SED uses an electron emitter for each subpixel to light up the phosphors in the display and operates similarly to a CRT display. Unlike a CRT television however, SED provides a much thinner and flatter screen.

An SED television is said to have a long working life, with only a 10% reduction in emitters after 60,000 hours. They use significantly less power than traditional LCD and plasma screens and possess excellent contrast ratio and brightness. Unlike LCD, an SED television does not experience lag (blurring during fast action scenes) and provides a 180 degree viewing angle. Like early plasma sets however, an SED television may be at risk for burn in.

    Laser based Television

Mitsubishi may be unveiling its new laser based HDTV models by the end of the year.

The television is a slimmed down rear projection model that will reportedly rival the space saving design of plasma and LCD screens. Said to be only 10” deep they should not be too imposing in any room. It is also anticipated that they will be lighter in weight, due in part to their lightweight plastic screen versus traditional glass.

According to the manufacturer, other attractive features include improvements in picture quality. These sets are said to offer better color content and blacker blacks than current technologies. In addition, this new laser based television reportedly consumes significantly less power and is expected to be priced well below that of similarly sized plasma or LCD screens.

    FED

Another potential leader for the future is FED (field emission display). Sony is currently behind the FED push.

FED television is said to operate more like a CRT set but offers the flatter, thinner display like LCD and plasma. They use a more efficient emitter (carbon nanotubes) and can therefore create a higher resolution picture than an LCD, use significantly less power than a plasma, and display fast motion without blurring.

The good news of course is that the evolution of television technologies should present some options that offer outstanding viewing and yet are affordable for the average consumer. Only time will tell which technologies will actually reach the market and whether or not actual performance will match current expectations.

  • As technology advances at breakneck speeds, buying a new television set seems to get more and more complicated. But with new innovations such as digital TV, HDTV, Freesat and home cinema sound, if your current TV set is more than 5 years old, now is a great time to upgrade.

This guide takes you through these new innovations and aims to help you make a purchase that will take your enjoyment of television to a whole new level.

    LCD or Plasma

LCD and Plasma technologies work in very different ways, but the advantages of both are similar:

    * No scanning lines enable a better quality flicker free picture.

    * Sharp, clear pictures with less reflection from sunlight.

    * Wide viewing angle - slim space saving design.

    * Slim attractive TVs that can be wall mounted like a picture.

When choosing between a Plasma or LCD TV, it is really just a question of size. LCD is at its optimum performance up to and including 32 inches, whilst Plasma offers optimum performance at 37 inches and above. Therefore, if you wish to purchase a smaller flat panel set, then LCD offers the greater performance, in contrast if you are looking for a larger screen size, Plasma is the best option.

    HD TV

Perhaps the most significant innovation to television since colour technology, High Definition (HD) TV brings detail, clarity and colour, with images often 4xs as sharp as those from traditional television sets. To view high definition programmes you must have a HD Ready TV. Sky and Freesat have already started broadcasting in high definition so you can now enjoy a range of your favourite programmes, films and sporting events with amazing life-like pictures.

If you choose not to invest in a high definition source at this time, you need not be concerned as all HD Ready TVs work excellently with standard broadcasts. As well as enhancing the picture quality and enjoyment you get from the TV, purchasing an HD Ready TV is a way of ‘future proofing’ yourself.

    Integrated Digital Tuner

A TV with an integrated digital tuner (also known as an idTV) allows you to receive all free to air digital channels, including E4, BBC3, Sky News and many more without the need for a separate set top box.

However, if you plan to team your new television with a sky digital subscription than an idTV may not be necessary.

    Freesat

Freesat, is a brand new digital satellite TV service provided through a partnership between the BBC and ITV, giving you free HD programmes at no extra cost. Freesat has no contract, no subscription, just a one-off payment for the TV, satellite dish and installation. And because Freesat is broadcast via satellite, it is available to almost every household in the UK. Freesat TV is currently only available with Panasonic TVs.

    Home Cinema

A Home Cinema System brings the full sound and big-screen experience of the movie theatre into your home. Technology has advanced so far in the last few years that you can enjoy amazing quality audiovisuals without paying a fortune. Dolby Digital Surround Sound allows you to become absorbed in the action, while a projector TV offers incredibly clear widescreen viewing.

    •  A Home Cinema System with Dolby Surround Sound takes movie watching to a whole new level. Wherever the action is on screen - that’s where the sound comes from in your room. If there’s a helicopter chasing the villain from behind, that’s where you will hear the chopper blades! It’s an experience that makes watching movies even more exciting and puts you at the centre of the action

    •  Projector TVs provide the closest experience to having your own private cinema at home. They can provide the largest possible screen size an affordable price. With recent advancements in technology there is very little difference between the three types of projection system; LCD, DLP and LCOS. Basically a projector + Dolby Surround Sound = the ultimate viewing experience!

  • Watching television has progressed from a luxury that only few had in their homes in the middle of the last century to the point where most consumers not only have one television, but often they may have several. And television programming has expanded greatly from just the three big networks to a whole host of other channels as well.

And along with this growth of interest in television programming the technology of televisions has been steadily improving too. Today we have lots of choices to make when we are deciding to buy another television.

Adding full high definition capability to your HDTV upgradeable TV is simple, but you need to keep in mind a couple things. To receive HDTV broadcasts, you will need a special antenna. With HDTV on DIRECTV, you will need a special satellite dish. And of course, you need the receiver. An HDTV receiver is similar to a conventional cable box. You connect it to your HDTV upgradeable set and use the receiver to switch channels.

When you are picking out an HDTV receiver, make sure you get one that will work well for you now, as well as in the future. Here are a few features to keep in mind.

As you can see, many of today’s most reputable manufacturers are producing high definition televisions at prices the average consumer can afford. You don’t need to be rolling in dough in order to reap the benefits of an HDTV. So, if you find yourself with a little extra cash to spend, why not give the new gold standard in home entertainment a try? It’s a decision your whole family will applaud.

If you’re on the market for an HDTV with a very large screen (over 59 inches), it is still possible to get one for under $2,000. For instance, you might consider the RCA 61-inch HDTV Projection Television. Or, if you’re looking to go even bigger, you might try the Toshiba 65-inch Flat Screen Projection TV. Hitachi, Philips, Mitsubishi, Zenith and Sharp all make HDTV sets with similarly large screens that can be found online for under $2,000.

With a HDTV receiver you can display video from DVD Players, VCRs, Satellite TV, Cable TV, game consoles or any video source in the highest resolution your HDTV was designed to deliver
    .
In almost every major city, network shows are broadcast in HDTV. You may have noticed a “Simulcast in HDTV” logo at the beginning of some of your favorite shows like, C.S.I. On DIRECTV, there is HDNET, an all HDTV channel. With DIRECTV, you can also get shows like The Sopranos on HBO in high definition. The programming is there, and more is being added all the time.

Shopping online will not only save you time but also a good amount of money, all from the comfort of your home. If you need accessories such as: HDTV satellite receiver, DirecTV satellite then the internet will be perfect for your search. Take at look at the following brand names online for superior quality and great warranty deals: Samsung SIR-TS360, Sony, Hitachi, Zenith, Pros can, Panasonic, JVC, Toshiba, Hughes and Mitsubishi.

Be one of the many people who have discovered the joys and pleasures of having an HDTV, but also, you need to know that you will need a good HDTV receiver to make this work perfectly. Do your homework and ask around, this is a worthwhile investment of time.
